The Pastoral Council is a group of dedicated and representative parishioners who serve as an advisory group to our pastor on spiritual, religious aspects of our church parish, such as worship services, sacraments, ministries, and pastoral care. Members contribute, individually and collectively, their unique gifts of Spirit, knowledge, and experience to achieving the mission of the Church. Importantly, members serve as representative through whom any and all members of our parish may offer suggestions to our pastor. Click this link to view the list of current Pastoral Council members.
The Finance Committee works closely with our pastor in an advisory capacity for matters related to the material aspects of the church, such as administration and stewardship of parish finances, property, and organizational health and management. Council advisory functions include development of an annual budget, regular review of revenues and expenses, management of temporal/material assets of the church parish. Our Finance Committee also receives proposals for parish development initiatives such fund-raising, capital development and improvement campaigns, and targeted initiatives that support upkeep and preservation of our historical properties and physical assets. Individually and collectively, members contribute relevant knowledge, skills/talents, and experience to support and facilitate the organizational effectiveness, vitality, and sustainability of our church parish. The Info-Com Team is newly formed administrative support ministry initiated in February 2023. As suggested by the team name, this ministry focuses on enhancing the effectiveness of church parish information management and its multiple forms of communications among church parish leaders and parishioners, and for administrative functions (e.g., archdiocesan reports) and collaborative ventures (e.g., projects and events). The Info-Com team focus crosses the full range of church parish operations and engages with others (e.g., our pastor, parish office staff, Pastoral Council, and Finance Committee) to promote highly effective and efficient management and use of information and communications methods in achieve our church parish mission and vision. At its inception, the Info-Com team conducted assessments ("taking stock") and solicited input from others to identify critical gaps and highest priority needs. As of August 2023, the following initiatives are fully underway: 1) parishioner registration and new parish member database, 2) new church parish website, 3) information management processes for the Parish School of Religion, and 4) upgraded technology and enhanced information management processes within the Parish Office, including expanded integration of the ParishSoft parish management system. Related to the Info-Com Team, first steps have begun to establish three new administrative support ministries, as shown in the remaining tabs below: Parish Data Management, Parish Website Administration and Management, and Parish Office/Administrative Support.
There is an increasing need for volunteers to help Parish Office staff with basic data entry tasks. Individuals who enjoy data type tasks, learning new things, and are skilled at attending to details should consider this ministry. Individuals with skills and prior experience using data-related software (e.g., Microsoft Excel, Access, and other types of data systems - numeric and/or text) are particularly encouraged to consider engaging in this ministry. Interested individuals must be willing to commit to maintaining confidentiality and a schedule of service, mutually determined between office staff and volunteer.
With a new church parish website launched, we are seeking interested parishioners who have the knowledge, skills, and enthusiasm to volunteer time and talents to supporting the everyday administration and management of our website. For this ministry, a small, core team is envisioned, so being an effective team player is also an important consideration.
As a small church parish, our Parish Office has only one full-time staff support. Individuals who enjoy engaging with different people and in doing different types of tasks should consider this ministry opportunity. Interested individuals who have experience and/or interest in assisting with routine office tasks are encouraged to consider this ministry. The range of activities varies, including but not limited to, greeting and assisting others in person and when answering the telephone; copying, preparing and assembling documents (e.g., handout materials, weekly bulletin, event programs); outreach activities (e.g., via telephone) are among the types of activities where help is often needed. The ability to commit to a schedule of service and/or flexibility to assist when needed (perhaps even upon short notice) is an important consideration.
