The 2025 Jubilee Holy Year is the 2,025th anniversary of the Incarnation of our Lord, Jesus Christ. Initiated by the Pope, a Jubilee (Holy Year) is recognized as an event of great spiritual, ecclesial, and social significance in the life of the Church.
Each Jubilee Year is a special year of reconciliation, pilgrimage, and coming home. Two unique features of a Jubilee Year are pilgrimage and plenary indulgence, each of which involve special activities through which the faithful can experience special gifts of grace and mercy.
Pope Francis designated the theme of the 2025 Jubilee to be Pilgrims of Hope, and set forth his desire that our participation in the Jubilee would facilitate the following:
a renewed climate of hope and trust among all peoples around the world and
for each of us to experience an encounter with Jesus Christ through pilgrimage to sacred places and in meeting the poor, sick, and vulnerable that we are called to serve.
