In 2018, Pope Francis established that the long-established devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary as the Mother of the Church be added to the Roman Calendar, celebrated annually as a Memorial on the day following Pentecost. For 2024, this will be May 20. From Pope Francis' decree is the following excerpt: "This celebration will help us to remember that the growth of Christian life must be anchored in the Myster of the Cross, to the oblation of Christ in the Eucharistic Banquet and to the Mother of the Redeemer and Mother of the Redeemed, the Virgin who makes her offering to God." Especially on Monday, May 20, let us ask our Blessed Mother for her prayers for our whole Church: O Mary, Mother of Christ, and Mother of the Church, pray for us that we might be made worthy of the promises of your Son. (from the Association of the Miraculous Medal). Please click the title to access additional prayer and faith resources from which you can select prayers and readings for the May 20 memorial.
